SAS H2O2: Automated transfer system with cold vaporized peroxide decontamination for material passage

MODEL: PBOX H2O2

The PBOX H2O2 is anadvanced material transfer system featuring vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) biodecontamination. It is designed to ensure maximum biological safety when transferring materials between classified areas up to Grade B. equivalent to ISO Class 5 at rest under the ISO 14644-1 standard for laboratory biosafety and cleanrooms.
Its fully automated operation, featuring a PLC and 7” HMI touchscreens, guarantees a HEPA H14 filtered vertical airflow connected to the client’s AHU, along with RGB LED light signaling to indicate its status.

Description

The PBOX H2O2 is a biological containment equipment designed for the airtight transfer of materials between cleanrooms. Its technology of cold hydrogen peroxide nebulization allows for an optimal surface biodecontamination of up to 6 log, reducing the risk of cross-contamination to zero and incorporating inflatable door gaskets to achieve perfect airtightness and prevent any risk of peroxide leakage.

“The equipment, featuring an AISI 316 internal chamber, includes a continuous airflow system connected to the client’s AHU with regulation dampers and a HEPA H14 supply filter, ensuring a vertical sweep and efficient internal pressure management through the dampers.

Simultaneously, the temperature, humidity, VHP ppm concentration, and saturation ratio are controlled within the chamber.

The equipment includes an integrated cold vaporized peroxide generator, featuring a 1,500 ml H₂O₂ tank with two dosing pumps and a nebulization system for VHP injection into the chamber.

As a safety measure, the cycle includes an aeration phase to reduce the H₂O₂ concentration, preventing doors from opening at concentrations above 1 ppm.

❓Frequently Asked Questions about the VHP (H2O2) Pass Box

What are the stages of the VHP decontamination cycle, and how is it ensured that the residual peroxide level is safe?

The automated cold vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP – H₂O₂) biodecontamination cycle consists of four consecutive key stages

  1. Dehumidification: Preparation and drying of the air inside the chamber.

  2. Injection: Introduction of the vaporized peroxide through strategic nozzles.

  3. Biodecontamination: Maintenance of the required concentration to guarantee an optimal microbiological reduction of up to 6 log.

  4. Final aeration: Forced ventilation through a continuous airflow and vertical sweep to safely reduce the peroxide concentration below 1 ppm before allowing the doors to open.

What variables and controlled environment are monitored inside the chamber during the cycle?

To ensure maximum repeatability, safety, and efficacy of the disinfection process, the system monitors and controls the following critical variables inside the chamber in real-time and digitally: internal pressure, temperature, relative humidity, peroxide concentration (ppm), and VHP saturation level.

How is the vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) generated, and how is it injected into the equipment's chamber?

The PBOX H2O2 incorporates a 1,500 ml peroxide safety tank with smart level control in its lower technical area. Utilizing a cold nebulization system backed by high-precision metering pumps, the peroxide is injected and homogeneously distributed into the chamber through six diffusion nozzles (strategically arranged with three on each side).

How are the airtightness and hermeticity of the chamber guaranteed during the VHP nebulization process?

Airtightness is ensured through a flush-mounted door system equipped with inflatable seals. Additionally, the equipment features airtight shut-off dampers on both the supply and exhaust of filtered air. The entire process is backed by a pressure sensor that constantly monitors absolute containment inside.

Is the PBOX H2O2 control system integrable with the plant's centralized systems?

Yes, Albian’s PLC-based control system comes natively ready for seamless connectivity and full integration with the centralized BMS (Building Management System) or SCADA management systems of your pharmaceutical or biotechnological facility.

How is the maintenance of the components and the refilling of the H2O2 tank carried out?

The hygienic and functional design of the equipment facilitates technical maintenance tasks:

  • Filter replacement: The replacement of the H14 HEPA supply filter is carried out comfortably and safely directly from inside the chamber.

  • Maintenance and refilling: The equipment features technical access doors in the lower area that allow ergonomic access for inspection and safe refilling of the peroxide tank.
